She works as a researcher and curator, with a Ph.D. in Social Communication from PPGCOM-UFMG. She is part of the curatorial team for the following festivals: Olhar de Cinema — Curitiba International Film Festival, FENDA — Experimental Film Arts Festival, and is part of the general organization of forumdoc.bh — Belo Horizonte Documentary and Ethnographic Film Festival. Her curatorial work includes coordinating several showcases at CCBB, such as Mulheres Mágicas — Reinvenções da Bruxa no Cinema (Magical Women — Reinventions of the Witch in Cinema), El Camino — Cinema de Viagem da América do Sul (El Camino — Road Cinema from South America), and a Retrospective of Helena Solberg. Carla is a native of Recife and currently lives in Belo Horizonte.
