Magical Presences at FestCurtasBH

Philosopher Marie-José Mondzain (Algiers, 1942), research director at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris, attended the Brazilian Competitive Showcase and the Narcia Hirsch Special Program this Thursday.

One of the most important thinkers of our time, she transversally draws on contributions from philosophy, theology, anthropology, and psychoanalysis to critically analyze the contemporary political, cultural, and audiovisual fields.

The author of the seminal “Image, Icon, Economy” (1996) is an indispensable reference for thinking about the power of the image and the various forms of violence of the visible.

Mondzain is in Belo Horizonte at the invitation of the Institute for Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies (IEAT/UFMG).
