Safo is an animated short film inspired by the life and work of the poet from the Island of Lesbos, who lived around 600 BCE. Safo’s poems gradually disappeared throughout history, leaving only about 200 fragments, recently uncovered in the sands of the Egyptian desert. The clear connection with nature in Safo’s poetry inspires the film’s aesthetic and narrative structure, translating some of her poems into visual form.
