A young girl, frightened after hearing her mother’s tale about the feared Boi da Manta, has her first experience at the Pedro Leopoldo festival, which culminates in an encounter with the Ox. After the initial estrangement, her fear fades away, giving place to fascination, recognition, and admiration for this creature and for the Boi da Manta celebration as a whole.
